HARRIERS. JOURNEYS AROUND THE WORLD

Hasta hace poco los aguiluchos eran uno de los grupos de aves rapaces menos conocidos. El autor de esta obra perseveró y viajó durante 20 años para llegar a conocer todas las 16 especies de aguiluchos del mundo, además de estudiar en profundidad el aguilucho pálido de su país natal, Irlanda del Norte.
Sus viajes lo han llevado por 6 continentes y lo han llevado a vivir todo tipo de aventuras y situaciones en lugares remotos y exóticos, donde los aguiluchos eran poco conocidos o estudiados por el mundo científico. Así, la persistencia del autor fué recompensada con la oportunidad de observar comportamientos desconocidos en esta especie hasta ese momento y de hacer grandes descubrimientos, como la de los aguiluchos pálidos que anidan en árboles, o la del aguilucho de Papua Nueva Guinea. Con esta obra no sólo conoceremos mucho mejor a estas bellas aes sinó que también se pondrá de relieve el delicado estado de su futura supervivencia. The author's dogged persistence in the field enabled him to witness traits of behaviour previously unknown in harriers. It began with the unique discovery of tree-nesting Hen Harriers and culminated with the Papuan Harrier in Papua New Guinea.

It not only highlights the sheer majesty of harriers but helps focus our attention to their individual plights which if left unrecognized will result in an uncertain future for many of the species which make up this group of birds.
