Tragopan is our main brand of hides. All their models are fast and easy to set up and they have many useful details for the photographer that reveal that they have been designed by a professional photographer: Jonathan Martinez.

Four wildlife photographers had kindly write to us their experience in the field with the Tragopan hides that they use.

Javier Aznar and the Lagopus B

Javier Aznar is a Spanish photographer specialized in Natural Enviornment conservation. His work is known internationally for having contributed to magazines such as National Geographic, Ranger Rick and BBC Wildlife among others.

He has been awarded multiple awards including winner of the best Portfolio of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year of the year 2018. In his latest project, Javier, he has used the Hide Lagopus B and this is his opinion and experience when using it in the field:

The Lagopus B hide with its tent, is the perfect hide for quick sessions with elusive animals. One can build it up and fold it very quickly and is all in one. The chair is very comfortable and the hide is not very large, so you will become unnoticed, while having a great comfort. I have it always at my car.

Rafael Armada and the Floating Hide

Winner of the Bird Photographer of the Year in the attention to detail category. Finalist in competitions such as FIO, Emotion' Ailes, Namur, BPOTY, among others.

Rafa Armada is currently working on the development of a book of birds from all over the world. To capture with his camera seabirds, Neotropics birds and waders is what motivates him the most.

They are usually challengin birds to photograph and to get good photos is a challenge, therefore requires more dedication. Rafa has been trying tragopan's Floating hide and this is his experience:

My experience with the Floating hide has been very positive. The main advantage is that as I gradually approach the birds, they tolerate very well and I can move in the direction I want to, being able to change the background and the scenario, making a difference with the static hides, where once you have installed everything you can't change it again until the next session.

Antonio Liébana and the Monal V2

Antonio Liébana he is one of the most active photographers of the Spanish national panorama. His images appear frequently in media such as National Geographic, author of 8 books of his own production, he currently develops his photographic activity both in Spain and around the world with more than 12 international destinations a year, his images often serve for awareness and conservation campaigns working closely with associations such as WWF.

Antonio tells us about his experience with one of the most popular Tragopan hides: the Monal V2.

The Monal V2 is perfect to spend long days all year long in nature, resistant, and spacious, it allows me to work with two teams or share the session with another photographer. Thanks to his design, I can leave the structure few days in nature with the guarantee that it will stand up all kind of weather – built with high resistant and thermally insulating materials.

Pau Vilanova and the Hokki V3

Pau Vilanova is a Catalan wildlife photographer. 80% of his photographic activity takes place in the Pyrenean and pre-Pyrenean at Girona province.

A good part of these environments are made up of large meadows, where sometimes in this environment it is difficult not to be perceived by the lack of trees or rocks.

He tells us about his experience with the Hokki V3 hide:

It is in this environment where I move, the Hokki V3 Tragopan hide has been especially useful to me. Thanks to its low height (0.75 m) and its camouflage pattern, I manage to be unnoticed among the low grass, reducing the risk of disturbing the animals that pass by. I have a special interest to photograph mammals, and I always try to place myself at the same height as them to obtain a softer image background and a closer and more intimate point of view. In this sense, the Hokki V3 has also been a great help to me thanks to the three windows that it has located at ground level. For transport, it is a hiding place that once folded takes up little space and is really light. In addition, I must add that I am a tall person but I am inside perfectly comfortable thanks to its 2.3 m in length. Without any doubt, that's one of the hides that I am most grateful to have for my outings.
