NEST BOXES

Nest boxes provide artificial nesting sites for garden birds.

These will be useful for species that nests in a closed spaces or cavities. With the installation of nest boxes we contribute to the bird conservation: helping them to find a place, as the number of trees and suitable places for them are decreasing.

As always, you will make sure that the observation alters as little as possible the environment in which they live, since they are a key piece to maintain the natural balance.

For this reason, in this selection we will leave aside those articles (which we also have in Oryx) for their preparation and conservation.

At Oryx we have two types of bird boxes: wooden and woodcrete boxes.

Garden Birds wooden nest boxes are made from thick solid pine wood obtained from sustainable forestry and have PEFC certification.

The second material, woodcrete, is used by the Schwegler. It is a mixture of wood sawdust, lime, cement and other additives that allows you to create box models in all possible ways. This material is highly durable in the open, resists the attack of pineapple and offers a perfect interior microclimate thanks to its insulating capacity and because it allows perspiration.

Schwegler nest boxes have proven to be highly effective with wild birds of different species, achieving better nesting densities compared to wooden boxes.

The most common garden birds and that most easily occupy the boxes are usually sparrows and tits. For these passerines we have several options, all of them closed with a 26 or 32 mm hole.
